"The Dome on Shrooms." 4' x 3'. Oil on canvas. If you have spent any time in Halifax you may have heard of, or been so unlucky as to have actually spent a night at "The Dome," the city's quintessential vile nightclub. This painting is based loosely on (as the name would imply), a night at The Dome after imbibing in handfuls of magic mushrooms. Rather than twisting reality, the ugly truths were laid bare. A few photos from a group show at the awesome secondhand/vintage/art shop "Lost and Found" in Halifax. Artists included myself, my twin sister Charlotte, Maria Cosme and Vanessa Lockerbie. The show was titled "Rude Vibes" and featured Yolo chickens, pizza haired girls, lawnmower man, and The Dome on shrooms, with appropriately rude snacks and drink provided (spam and PBR). It was a raging success, the boxed wine was flowing, and it eventually dissolved into a smoking artist street party.
My site has been sorely neglected for some time, as I am more inclined to document my artwork on other social media and blogs. Time to revamp my site! The last post on this blog is a sketch from when I was traveling in Australia (aka 2 years ago), and I've have had many shows since then, so I think I will flood this blog with photos from some of the more documented openings I've have in the past year. Here's to being more dedicated!

All that I've brought with me is a small plain papered sketchbook and a tiny case of watercolours. Once I get to south east Asia, the pace of my travels will get really hectic and I don't imagine I'll have much incentive to sit and draw... Although I should, bangkok alone is going to provide immense amount of visual fodder and inspiration... I'm gunna Gauguin it up in the islands! Although there will be plenty of distractions... |
